چکیده

Tangible agent (TA) is a new medium that communicates the senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste of human to computer. Intelligent behavior is a key property to realize the agent because it must interact with human to grasp all the information. We have adopted behavior-based approach for high-level hehaviors such as navigation of office, conversation with human, and cleaning of room. Behavior-based method can control unexpected situation without prior knowledge and generate high-level behavior with behavior selection. However, TA requires improvements of behavior selection architecture for better communication with human. In this paper, we propose an intelligent behavior selection architectwe that contains inferencing, learning and planning capability to TA. In this paper, overview of technical details and experimental results on physical device (Khepera robot) are presented. Preliminary results show the possibility of the proposed behavior selection architecture for TA.

Multi-agent Behavior Composition through Adaptable Software Architectures and Tangible Interfaces

Cooperative behavior realization is an important aspect of Multi-Agent Systems, and it has been widely addressed by the robotics community. However, the interaction among multiple robots and a human operator still requires a non-negligible effort to be effective. The availability of modern input devices can ease the behavior composition process, allowing a user to train Multi-Agent Systems by u...

Management of Distributed RFID Surfaces: A Cooking Assistant for Ambient Computing in Kitchen

Interactive tabletops are used to support interaction when designing applications. The design is generally displayed on the detection surface, but in some cases, the display uses other surfaces in a distributed way. This paper proposes some additions of an existing architecture. This new architecture aims for managing distributed surfaces with agent concepts of a Multi-Agent System. The Multi-A...

Affective Action Selection and Behavior Arbitration for autonomous Robots

In this paper we suggest an action selection and behavior arbitration scheme for autonomous robots, called AASBA (for "affective action selection and behavior arbitration"), which uses affective states to select the robot's behavior at any given time and pass control from the currently active behavior to the newly selected one. AASBA views action selection and behavior arbitration as an integra...

Architecture multi-agent pour la gestion d'objets tangibles et virtuels sur Table Interactive

Research done in this thesis aims to propose a new multiagent architecture to designapplications for the new communication platforms like the interactive tables. Multiagentsystems are used for many years and can respond to the challenges of such platforms. Themotivation of our work is to manage the interactions and the behavior of several hetero-geneous entities (virtual and tan...

Analyzing a Multi-Agent-System Decision Architecture Aiming to Model the Behavior of Virtual Humans

In this paper a novel approach on how to model the decision-making of virtual humans in the domain of multi-agent-systems is analyzed. The developed decision architecture embeds strategic behavior for intelligent humanoid agents (Hoogendoorn & Bovy 2004). The aim is to solve the action selection problem in the domain of naturalistic decision-making related to pedestrian movements. Embedding ind...
